Elementary School Summer Reading

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

All Wethersfield public elementary school students will be registered online by their teachers, or you may use an existing account to register.

  • For children entering grades K-6
  • To register and log your reading visit wethersfieldlibrary.beanstack.org/
  • You can also register and log your reading via the Beanstack app! Download @ www.beanstack.com/mobile-app
  • Monday, June 17: begin counting and logging your minutes read
  • Read books at your reading level.
  • Participants who are not reading on their own may count time spent while being read to.
  • READ TO BEAD!! For every 60 minutes that you read you will earn 3 beads to add to your chain. Trade in 10 beads for a special bead. Earn more beads by attending programs and completing activities found on Beanstack.
  • Monday, June 17: pick up begins for all incentives earned and are available while supplies last.
  • Tuesday, September 3: summer reading ends, last day to collect incentives.
INCENTIVES:
  1. Time Read: 20 minutes total = Paperback Book, Charm Bracelet, Charm, 1st Brag Tag, & chain
  2. Time Read: 500 minutes total = Adventure Reading Buddy, Charm & 2nd Brag Tag
  3. Time Read: 1,000 minutes total = Drawstring Bag, Charm & 3rd Brag Tag
  4. Time Read: 1,500 minutes total = Paperback Book, Charm & 4th Brag Tag
  5. Time Read: 1,560 minutes total or more = Continue earning 3 beads for every 60 minutes read

Preschool Summer Reading

Monday, June 17 – Tuesday, September 3
PROGRAM INFORMATION:
  • For children ages birth-4 (not entering Kindergarten in August 2024)
  • Tuesday: June 11: registration begins, visit the library to register
  • Monday, June 17: program begins
  • Stamp a circle for each day you read to your child at least 20 minutes.
  • For every 6 circles stamped visit the library for a sticker.
  • Complete 30 days of reading to earn a book.
  • Complete 60 days of reading to earn a mini magnetic drawing board.
  • Incentives are available while supplies last.
  • Tuesday, September 3: summer reading ends, last day to collect incentives.
